Kinja'd!!!

I’m really tired of the pickup bed being full of 50 bungees that catch on everything and take forever to get loose. Crews don’t care in the slightest about their work environment, and that attitude has made me a lot less willing to spend extra time coming up with things to help them out. But... That’s the wrong way to look at it. So here’s me s tarting to get back on the right direction for however long I stay here. I’ll pretty this bungee rack up a bit and then mount it somewhere. Still need to make a false floor so I can have an a-frame ladder cubby underneath.

Oh and the crews have already done a number on the new truck. Replaced a mirror last week, need to reattach the front bumper, the tailgate is busted on one side (still works) and the body has it’s first dent. Woooo.

In other news I got an offer to work at a local city water plant. 6am start time is turning me off, but I'll at least go talk to the plant manager.

Wow, that vehicle care does not inspire confidence.

Sometimes simple and functional beats pretty. Keeping it basic increases the chance the crews will actually use it.

If you have any questions about the water/wastewater world let me know. I have worked both as a plant operator and in maintenance.

Nope. Christmas light season has seen some bad habits become the norm. If I was a homeowner and looked into one of these vehicles, I would likely cancel the work I'd requested

That’s my driving thought. Systems have to be a simple as possible or they’ll either b e ignored, or require constant oversight.

Will do, thanks! I'm not *really* qualified for this job, which is why I'm interested to hear more

It’s hard to find people that care. We got some new Titans recently, and our guys are already smoking in them. Vehicles under 10 years old are all non-smoking vehicles: a policy that they mention once a year in meetings but never, ever, ever, enforce.

The qualifications you would need depends on the size of the plant and how automated the systems are.

The things they have in common in terms of needs are a decent grasp of geometry and algebra, basic problem solving skills, some very basic chemistry, and the ability to do some mechanical repairs and troubleshooting. Depending on the facility you may be asked to do some laboratory work. Plus, if they handle wastewater  you’ll need some biology as well.

6am starts are the best. Less traffic on the commute + more daylight after work for activities.
